Sprinter Usain Bolt as an NFL wide receiver?

Somewhere, somehow an NFL scout must be drooling at the thought of Usain Bolt catching long touchdown passes.

There’s nothing wrong with dreaming. Bolt is the fastest human being in history, he’s a freak of nature at 6-foot-5 and if he could just be taught how to catch the football, who could possibly cover him? ESPN’s Chris Berman would call him Usain “Lightning” Bolt.

Bolt may never play in the NFL, but the idea of a world-class sprinter doing such a thing is not unprecedented.

The best known sprinter who played in the NFL was Bob Hayes, a double gold medal winner in the 1964 Olympics (100 meter dash and 4×100 relay). Of course, Hayes wasn’t strictly a sprinter. He did also play football at Florida A&M, but track was clearly his best sport in college.

Winning two gold medals put Hayes at the top of the track world and perhaps he could have won more gold in 1968. But the Dallas Cowboys had other ideas, drafting Hayes in the seventh round of the 1964 NFL draft.

rihanna300x400_money_broke_def_jam.jpgRihanna being broke is the latest rumor in circulation on several international entertainment gossip websites and blogs. It said that her record label Def Jam. did not properly fund the R&B superstar Rihanna. However, the question is - can Rihanna be broke after her recent album Good Girl Gone Bad sold around 5 million copies worldwide?

According to information on nationnews.com a family member told the SATURDAY SUN these types of rumours come with the territory.

“We never addressed rumours in the past and we are not going to start now,” said the member of Rihanna’s family.

This is how the rumor got started

Stories have been appearing on several international websites and blogs that the Barbadian-born superstar only has US$20 000 left in the bank.

The information was brought to the public by a Patricia Williams, who claimed to be Rihanna’s business manager who was fired by the Grammy-winning songbird.

The blogs read that Williams was fired after Rihanna discovered there was only US$20 000 in her bank account. The story was first published on Page Six, an on-line edition of the New York Post, from which Williams said she was fired “for no good reason, all in ignorance” and is “livid” with Rihanna and her management company Rebel One’s decision to fire her.

vybz_kartel_fire_bombed_entertainer.jpgDancehall artiste Vybz Kartel sent out a press release stating that his car was not fire bombed even though residents strongly believed that it was the act of a motorcyclist who sped from the scene seconds after the car exploded.

However, according to reports from Vybz Kartel, he had no idea of his car being bombed by a motorcyclist. He also mentioned that his Honda had an electrical problem, which might be the caused for the car to explode.

The deejay added that, he has nothing against Mavado and even if Mavado has something against him, it is not evident. Vybz Kartel said he has no time to focus on negative things right now as his focus is 100% about making money - money over war.

terry_linen_man_artiste_singer_jamaica.jpgTerry Linen is easily one of reggae music’s greatest talents to have emerged in the new millennium. Blessed with a brilliantly distinctive voice, the diminutive singer has cemented a place in the hearts of reggae lovers worldwide with a combination of his haunting melodies and wonderful songwriting.

Born Kiplin Simpson, he grew up in the district of Red Bank, he attended the Red Bank Primary and Red Bank High schools. Being the first child for his mother, his grandparents were the ones who look after him, while his mother hustled to put food on the table, for him and his five siblings. His father migrated to England at the time. Eventually, Terry moved from the quiet district of Red Bank to the sleepy bustle of Mandeville to live with his mother who had remarried.

When he graduated from school, he hooked up with the legendary Black Kat sound system where he cut dubs. It was during those inspirational Black Panther days that Terry became great friends with local artistes who were on the rise which included General Degree, Tony Rebel and Garnet Silk who had a tremendous influence on the impressionable singer.
